As my mom always affirms, there is a bright side to everything.
As I witness the unfolding global events, I'm fairly astounded by the potential benefits of the frightening challenges we now face. Because we're clearly all in this together.
This widespread illness knows nothing of borders, race, socioeconomic class or any other differentiator. And we are now united as a species to respond and survive.
Truth be told, there was already plenty of reasons for us to work as a human family and create a livable future for our children and generations to come. Yet, it seems that we weren't slowing down enough to recognize the urgency of our situation.
Modern society in full swing left little time for contemplation, dreaming, discussion and planning. Now a precious window has opened for us to take account of what is working and what is better left to the past. We have this amazing opportunity to envision and design our lifestyles on purpose.
And we have tools to connect and contribute to our well being as individuals and as a whole. In unity, there is tremendous power. We have been presented with circumstances that overcome our differences for us, giving us the liberty to pursue peace in our lifetime.
The New Market
Let us remember that the economy represents activity. A healthy economy is one in which the production of essential goods and services supports the needs of the population.
We had gotten carried away in our culture with so many non-essentials; it's just not a sustainable model. Now we are faced with the reality of creating a new economy that focuses on producing and distributing what is actually necessary. We are back to basics.
I've long had the thought that we'd do well to reverse the phrase "supply and demand" to "demand and supply". And here we are.
It is time for us to demand that our basic needs become top priority. And, what's more, we must take personal responsibility for doing whatever we can to contribute to this goal being achieved.
Food, clothing, shelter and all the fixings! Clean air. Clean water. Mind food. Guidance and instruction. Test kits.
We need to learn what we need to learn to do what we must do. Plant a garden. Change our consumption habits. Process bulk food. Sew face masks. Apply Natural Law. Share our knowledge.
This is the new market that will support the well being of all and bring long desired peace to Earth and her inhabitants. So I, for one, am full of gratitude, for this unexpected pause that may be our saving grace.
This is a time to get to know ourselves better. A time to examine our values and develop our virtues. A time to find peace within. A time to let Love and Faith lead the way. A time to bring our dreams to life.
