How to Use The Four Aways for a Better Life

In the ongoing effort to improve our home . . . and work . . . environment, I recently came up with an easy to remember system of helping decide what to do with each particular item in question. I call it "The Four Aways" . . .
     And here they are . . .

Put Away

A house becomes more homey when everything in it has a proper place to live. If you value something enough to keep it, make sure it has its own place.

This makes it much faster and easier to clean up when you (And your children, if you've got some) know where things belong. If something falls into this category of Loved and/or useful, put it away.

Give Away

If the item under scrutiny doesn't actually serve you by being useful or bringing you Joy, it's probably just a burden and cluttering up your space. And in case you didn't know it, there is a mirroring effect between your environment and your "invironment" or inner world.

A cluttered house can lead to a lack of peace and clarity in your mental and emotional state. If an object fits this description, but may have value (Or actually be a treasure!) to someone else, give it away!

Throw Away

I am not much of a believer in trash, and want everything to have as full of a life cycle as possible. So if something needs to go but is not able to be donated, please reuse or recycle it if at all possible. But, to stick with our helpful and memorable system, recycling goes into this "away" also.

If things aren't enhancing your life, throw them away. Better to throw something away than get surrounded by things that make you feel like junk. When it isn't worth keeping, Recycle it or throw it away.

Pack Away

This is especially useful for us as we are preparing to move to a new home as soon as possible. But it may be helpful even if you are staying put. If you recognize items as having worth to you, but aren't necessarily needed in the immediate or near future, pack them away.

This will help simplify your day to day stimuli, with an added bonus. When the time comes, you can unpack these items and enjoy them like they are new treasures all over again! So, if you want to save it for later, pack it away!

And there you have it. The Four Aways. I hope they help you on your journey to creating your dream lifestyle! Because what you accomplish today helps you become the best version of yourself.
