This Holiday Season, Give Love

Have a holly, jolly . . .
frantic shopping frenzy?

No, no, no. That’s not it.

This holiday season is a perfect opportunity to take stock of what really matters when it comes to giving . . . and receiving.

It’s a chance to remember what makes for a truly magical holiday season ~ and life.

A Collection of Moments

As we bustle about making merry, we must remind ourselves to be present in the here and now.

I find it dangerously easy to get wrapped up in the collection of material goods. It certainly has it’s pleasure.

Still, the stuff is just not what it’s all about.

How are you feeling about the items on your “To Do” list? Who are you being as you go about the process of holiday preparation?

I’ve just started reading The Pleasure Prescription by Paul Pearsall, Ph.D. It has already affected me quite a bit.

If we aren’t having a good time on a daily basis, we’re risking our health and wellness. The books quotes Nadine Stairi, 85, as saying,

Oh, I’ve had my moments, and if I had to do it over again, I’d have more of them. In fact, I’d try to have nothing else. Just moments, one after another, instead of living so many years ahead of each day.

Think of some of the most magical moments of your life. They were so amazing because you were really there. You were truly present in the moment because you weren’t thinking about being somewhere else.

If you want this holiday season to be super special, start living it one moment at a time. And chose to Love every moment.

This Holiday Season, Give Love

Gift giving is a beautiful tradition. Ideally, it brings much Joy, to givers and recipients alike.

You’re able to demonstrate thoughtfulness and affection by choosing something special for each person you Love. But sometimes the need to get something in a box and under the tree distracts us from the real purpose of giving.

This holiday season, give LoveA present represents your Love. It shows that you care and want to make the receiver happy. But what really makes us happy?

Most of us probably feel like we end up with more stuff than we have space for. Sadly, many resources go into making products that end up in the trash before too long.

Love Too Big for a Box

When you’re looking for gifts this holiday season, think outside the box.

What fun activity could you plan to “gift”? Shared experiences are some of the most treasured times of our lives.

I’ve always been a big fan of “Magic cards”. These are redeemable for all kinds of enjoyable things like date nights of your choice or massages or a favorite home-cooked meal.

If you do find that perfect gift in the store, give it with Love that’s too big for the box.
Instead of writing a little tag that says “To” and “From”, attach a Love note with words that express how you really feel.

Start right now. Be full of kindness and good cheer. Commit to being a Merry Soul this holiday season.

As we hurry along checking items off our list, let’s do our best to acknowledge and uplift each other. Every person needs Love.

You need Love. Make sure to give yourself the gift of self-care. Drink plenty of water, eat nutritious food, exercise, and get enough rest.

Smile often. Laugh a lot. Appreciate each breath of the crisp, refreshing air.
Give your Loved ones the gift of a healthy, happy You!

Enjoy life right now.

For all the tasks to get done as they should, it is Love that must come first.
